China to host industry conference
China is preparing to host the Theme Park and Attractions Summit & Awards (TPASA) conference which will see thousands of industry professionals, government representatives and theme park operators converge during the two-day event.
The main focus of the conference will be to seek sustainability and innovation in the booming theme park and attraction market.
Other topics up for discussion will be China’s latest industrial policies, the progress of major theme park projects and global management strategies.
Record growth in the Asian theme park market
According to the latest statistics from 2012, Asia now accounts for one-third of the world’s total theme park ticket sales ($103.3 million USD), second only to North America ($127 million USD).
China, in particular, is experiencing rapid growth in their theme park sector, which is showing little sign of slowing anytime soon. Almost one-third of China’s 2,500 theme parks have opened within the past two years, and another 30 have since been announced.
By 2020, China is expected to overtake the U.S. for the highest number of annual theme park visits.
The Theme Park and Attraction Summit & Awards conference will take place in Beijing on 31 October and 1 November 2013.
